Rosenborg Castle

Situated in the middle of Copenhagen, the Rosenborg Castle is one of Northern Europe’s most important Renaissance castles.

It was built as the summer residence of the Danish royal family in the 1600s, but made into a permanent royal residence and occupied by King Christian IV and subsequent generations until around 1710.

Rosenborg Castle later became home to the royal collections and these, along with the castle’s well-preserved interiors are open to the public today.

On display in this fairytale-like place is everything from the crown jewels to coronation chairs, to the King’s costumes and riding gear.

The castle is situated in Kongens Have (The King’s Garden) which is Denmark’s oldest royal garden.
